Getting Back to the Past
Did you know that the Kittle House’s history spans for more than 200 years, but began as a humble barn on Ivy Hill Farm in 1790? Through the mindful use of ecological materials and thoughtful attention to detail, the Kittle House has transformed into a landmark for Northern Westchester where countless memories have been made! We are so proud to have the opportunity to walk through these experiences with everyone who comes through our door. We are eager to take everyone along with us on our own journey of getting back to our farm roots.
During this brutal winter, we took the time to plan our gardens for this season and are ready to begin the new plantings by our Inn and event garden! These beautiful gardens are being designed by local famers, Mimi Edelman (I&Me) and Deb Taft (Mobius Fields) and will be filled with bountiful fresh herbs and vegetables fresh for our Chef’s picking to deliver right to your dish!
Not only are we taking our land back to its roots and using our farmer’s seeds that have been thriving in their greenhouses, we are adamant about sourcing our seeds from the Hudson Valley Seed Library.
The Hudson Valley Seed Library offers heirloom and open-pollinated seeds for vegetable, flower, and herb varieties. Many of the seeds are produced on our their small farm, while the remaining seeds are sourced from other local farmers, farmers in other regions, and from trustworthy wholesale seed houses. By committing to this source, we are following their commitment to the Safe Seed Pledge. We look forward to working with thisCertified Organic farm and a Certified Organic Handler!
We’ll keep you up to date with all our exciting progress we make with Mimi and Deb throughout the season!
